Aerogel felt and aerogel coating in the engineering application of industrial equipment pipelines
Application case of aerogel felt in steam pipelines:
Basic situation and existing problems before replacing the insulation material in the customer’s steam pipeline:
(1) Pipe diameter: 530mm, temperature: 275 degrees, surface temperature drops to around 56 degrees.
(2) The previous insulation structure used composite insulation of rock wool and pearl cotton, with an insulation thickness of 110mm.
(3) The previous insulation scheme had a short service life, was prone to damage and aging, requiring frequent maintenance and replacement.
(4) Traditional insulation materials are prone to aging, leading to a decrease in thermal insulation performance, causing significant heat loss. The materials themselves are not waterproof, easily leading to pipeline corrosion, making it unable to meet design pressure requirements.
(5) Due to the decreased insulation effect, the internal fluid in the pipeline cannot reach the designed temperature and pressure requirements at the end.
Effects after replacing with AG65 aerogel felt:
(1) Using Anchor-tech’s AG65 aerogel felt with a thickness of 10mm, wrapped in three layers, achieves the original insulation material’s 100mm thermal insulation requirement. This significantly reduces the insulation layer thickness, saves space, and reduces the use of external insulation layers and wrapping materials.
(2) The unique nano-porous network structure provides excellent structural strength, high compressive strength, stable performance, and no deformation or decrease in insulation performance during long-term use.
(3) AG65 aerogel felt has a lotus leaf-like hydrophobic effect. The product is composed of inorganic substances, has minimal chloride ion content, a neutral pH, does not corrode pipelines, and maximally prevents pipeline corrosion.
(4) Alenius experiments indicate a product lifespan of approximately 20 years, reducing later maintenance and frequent replacement costs for the insulation layer.
(5) The product is lightweight, flexible, and can resist harsh construction and internal stress during hot and cold alternations. It can be easily cut with ordinary scissors to fit the shapes required for complex components, significantly reducing construction time and labor costs.
Application case of aerogel coating in steam pipelines:
Due to many bends in the customer’s steam pipeline, it was challenging to install other insulation materials. However, using our aerogel coating perfectly solved this problem. Before using Anchor-Tech aerogel coating, the temperature was 259°C, and after applying an 8mm thick aerogel coating, the temperature dropped to 71°C.
Advantages of using Anchor-Tech aerogel coating on pipelines:
(1) After cleaning the pipeline surface, it can be directly sprayed or scraped with high pressure and no air, suitable for insulating pipeline joints, valves, or curved sections, highlighting the convenience of construction.
(2) The product is water-based, non-toxic, environmentally friendly, safe during construction, stable, non-radioactive, and does not produce airborne powder during construction.
(3) The product has a low thermal conductivity (less than 0.030 W/m·k at room temperature), excellent thermal insulation performance, A-grade fire resistance, and a relatively thin insulation layer.
