AGF-APA Dual-Sided PET Aerogel Film | Ultra-Thin Insulation
Product Description
Dual-Sided PET Aerogel Insulation Film (AGF-APA) features a sandwich composite structure of “aerogel coating + PET film + aerogel coating.” It is available in standard thicknesses from 70 to 250 microns, with a central PET layer of 16 microns. The dual-sided aerogel design delivers low thermal conductivity of 0.022–0.026 W/(m·K), effectively blocking heat transfer from both directions. This makes it ideal for electronics requiring double-sided insulation, such as smartphones, tablets, and LED lighting enclosures.
The PET core provides lightweight support and enhances tensile strength, maintaining structural stability under bending and folding conditions. Produced through a precision coating process, the aerogel layers are tightly bonded to the PET film, resulting in a smooth, powder-free surface suitable for use inside sensitive electronic devices.
The film can be easily cut to shape during installation and operates reliably in environments from -20°C to 120°C. Combining energy efficiency with long-term durability, AGF-APA is an excellent thermal insulation solution for consumer electronics.

Manufacturer & Engineering Notes
Manufacturing & Project Experience
Anchor Aerogel produces AGF-APA by precision-coating aerogel onto both faces of a 16 μm PET core on its own coating lines, controlling bond quality so the surfaces stay smooth and powder-free. We support overseas electronics buyers from gauge selection and drawing review through sampling and repeat production, with standard gauges at 70, 140, 200, and 250 μm and custom thicknesses available within 50-300 μm. Roll or die-cut samples can be prepared for line evaluation, and shipments use export packaging. Current technical documentation, including the TDS, is available on request to support your qualification and incoming inspection procedures.
Engineering Boundaries & Custom Options
AGF-APA is the bidirectional-insulation option: both faces are aerogel-coated, so it suits layers exposed to heat from either side, but neither face has the scratch protection a PET cover would give - plan handling and enclosure contact accordingly. Standard construction carries no adhesive or liner, so fixing is the assembler's responsibility. The quoted thermal conductivity applies to the aerogel layers; compute stack resistance from total thickness. Continuous operating range is -20 to 120°C, and no UL94 rating is published. Electrical values are typical figures - confirm the current TDS and run application-level testing for safety-relevant installations.
Frequently Asked Questions about AGF-APA Dual-Sided PET Aerogel Film
Technical answers for overseas buyers, engineers, and project specifiers. For project-critical values, request the current TDS before final design.
AGF-APA is a sandwich composite of aerogel coating + 16 μm PET film + aerogel coating, so both faces carry an active insulation layer. Standard thicknesses are 70±10, 140±14, 200±20, and 250±20 μm, within an overall range of 50-300 μm. The dual-sided aerogel design delivers a thermal conductivity of 0.022-0.026 W/(m·K) for the aerogel layers, blocking heat transfer from both directions. The PET core provides lightweight support and tensile strength, maintaining structural stability under bending and folding. Precision coating bonds the aerogel layers tightly to the PET, giving a smooth, powder-free surface suitable for sensitive devices.
AGF-APA is intended for electronics requiring double-sided insulation, such as smartphones, tablets, and LED lighting enclosures, where heat can arrive from either face of the film – for example, a layer sitting between two heat-generating components. Manufacturer-listed applications include wearable devices, smartphones, laptops, tablets, OLED displays, smart TVs, digital cameras, and consumer electronics. The film operates reliably from -20 to 120°C and can be cut to shape during installation. Its combination of bidirectional insulation, flexibility, and moisture and aging resistance from the PET core supports long-term use inside sealed consumer devices.
The specification table lists a temperature resistance range of -40 to 130°C and a continuous operating temperature of -20 to 120°C for AGF-APA, consistent with PET-substrate constructions. Dielectric strength is rated at ≥4 kV/mm and volume resistivity at ≥1.0×10¹³ Ω·cm, so the film provides electrical insulation on top of its bidirectional thermal barrier function – useful when it separates heat-generating parts from conductive structures. These are typical published values; confirm the current TDS for safety-relevant positions and validate on the final assembly. No UL94 flame rating is published for this model, so formal flammability requirements should be raised during technical review.
AGF-APA is supplied in rolls with customizable size, and thickness can be tailored across the 50-300 μm range beyond the four standard gauges. The film is thin and flexible – the thinnest standard gauge is 70 μm – and is described as easy to cut and apply, so it converts cleanly into die-cut parts, strips, or sheets matched to component outlines. For OEM projects, buyers can submit drawings or CAD data so the factory can confirm achievable tolerances and propose roll widths or pre-cut formats that drop into the assembly process. Evaluation samples can be arranged before volume commitment.
AGF-APA has no adhesive layer or release liner in its standard form, so it is positioned within the assembly and fixed by the designer’s chosen method on either face – both faces are functional aerogel surfaces, which also means both should be protected from abrasive contact during handling. The PET film core prevents moisture ingress and oxidation, supporting long-term stability, but rolls should still be stored in a dry, room-temperature environment; the published shelf life is three years. Keep rolls sealed until use to preserve the powder-free surface condition required for installation inside sealed electronic enclosures.
