Aerogel Thermal Insulation Paste (AG-IP)

Aerogel Thermal Insulation Paste

Product Introduction

Aerogel Insulation Paste AG-IP is a single-component, environmentally friendly, water-based paste formulated with aerogel powder and other high-performance insulating additives. Thanks to the addition of aerogel, it offers excellent thermal insulation, along with soundproofing and waterproofing properties. It is suitable for both high-temperature insulation and low-temperature thermal retention.

During application, no primer is needed, and it can be directly applied or coated onto metal substrates, effectively solving the issue of poor adhesion faced by other insulation materials. After extensive technical advancements, we have developed 12 different grades, covering temperature resistance from 100°C to 1200°C, to meet various thermal insulation requirements. It can be used in thermal pipelines, industrial storage tanks, medical equipment cooling, refrigerated trucks, high-temperature reactors, etc.

Manufacturer & Engineering Notes

Manufacturing & Project Experience

AG-IP is produced by Anchor Technology as a single-component water-based paste line, with twelve factory grades developed to cover 100°C to 1200°C service. The published conductivity, adhesion, water-resistance and salt-spray values reflect standard production testing, and documentation including RoHS compliance information can be provided for project files. The technical team supports buyers with grade selection against operating profiles, material estimates from pipe or tank schedules using the published 0.85–1.1 L/m² consumption, and sample supply for field trials on representative equipment. For maintenance or retrofit projects, application method and access constraints can be reviewed with the factory before order confirmation.

Engineering Boundaries & Custom Options

The AG-IP series offers standard grades at 100°C intervals; custom requirements outside this grid, such as combined thermal and acoustic targets or specific build thicknesses, should be discussed with the factory rather than assumed. Performance boundaries should be respected: conductivity is published as a range of 0.038–0.045 W/(m·K) across the series, the operating ceiling is below 1200°C, and real insulation outcome depends on applied dry thickness, so thickness design should be verified by heat-loss calculation for each line or vessel. CUI mitigation depends on continuous, well-adhered films over properly prepared steel. We recommend a trial section under real operating conditions before full-scale application.

Sample Request FAQs

Quick answers about requesting and receiving free samples from Anchor-tech.

Can you provide samples?

Yes. Please share some basic information about your project with us — for example, where the material will be used and at what operating temperature. Rest assured this is only so we can help you choose the most suitable material, model, and specification. We will never disclose your project details to any third party.

Can we still request samples if we cannot disclose any project information?

No. If you are unwilling to share any information about your project, we are not obligated to support your R&D effort. Please respect the labor involved: preparing each sample requires a dedicated colleague and is quite time-consuming. Moreover, without knowing where and how you intend to use our product, we cannot even determine whether it is suitable for your application.

Are samples free, and how much can I request?

We provide free samples of aerogel paste up to 100 g. If you need a larger quantity or many pieces, please let us know the reason — we are glad to support you. However, if you have never seen our sample before and only want to take a look, please do not casually request large amounts. A dedicated colleague must prepare every sample, which takes considerable effort. You may first take a look; once you confirm it is likely suitable for your project, you can request more from us.

Who pays for shipping?

Shipping costs must be borne by the customer. Please provide us with your FedEx account number and the recipient information (including name, address, phone number, postal code, etc.), and we will arrange the shipment for you.

How long does it take to prepare samples?

If the item is in stock, preparation generally takes 3–7 days. If it is out of stock and requires custom manufacturing, it takes 1–2 weeks. We will prepare your samples as quickly as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions about Aerogel Thermal Insulation Paste (AG-IP)

Technical answers for overseas buyers, engineers, and project specifiers. For project-critical values, request the current TDS before final design.

AG-IP is a single-component, water-based insulation paste formulated with aerogel powder and high-performance insulating additives. It is a matte, environmentally friendly paste with density of 0.40–0.55 kg/L and 80% effective content by volume, providing thermal insulation together with soundproofing and waterproofing properties. It suits both high-temperature insulation and low-temperature thermal retention. No primer is needed; it can be applied directly onto metal substrates, addressing the poor-adhesion problem of many conventional insulation materials. Typical applications include thermal pipelines, industrial storage tanks, high-temperature reactors, medical equipment cooling and refrigerated trucks.

The AG-IP series comprises twelve grades covering operating temperatures from 100°C to 1200°C in 100-degree steps: AG-IP-01 rated at 100°C up to AG-IP-12 rated at 1200°C. The overall operating temperature ceiling is stated as below 1200°C. This grading lets specifiers match the paste to the actual service temperature of the pipeline, tank or reactor instead of relying on a single general-purpose product. Grade selection should consider continuous versus peak temperature and any thermal cycling; the technical team can assist with selection when given the equipment’s operating profile. Performance of grades at intermediate conditions should be confirmed in the current TDS.

Published parameters include thermal conductivity of 0.038–0.045 W/(m·K), adhesion strength of 2.0 MPa, water resistance of 1000 hours, salt spray resistance of 1000 hours, and medium-to-high abrasion resistance. The paste complies with RoHS standards and is described as effectively eliminating CUI, corrosion under insulation, which is a key advantage for insulated steel pipelines and tanks where conventional absorbent insulation traps moisture against the metal. Unit consumption is 0.85–1.1 L per square meter and drying time is 4 hours or less at room temperature. As always, field durability depends on film build, surface preparation and exposure conditions.

AG-IP is a single-component paste applied directly without primer, which simplifies work on metal substrates and irregular geometry. It can be applied or coated onto surfaces, making it practical for special-shaped equipment, valves, flanges and fittings where board or blanket insulation is awkward. The substrate should be clean, dry and free of oil, rust scale and loose material to achieve the published 2.0 MPa adhesion. Material demand can be estimated from the published unit consumption of 0.85–1.1 L/m² for the standard build. Recommended film thickness per pass, total build for specific temperature drops and recoating intervals are not detailed on the page; confirm in the current TDS.

Key boundaries for AG-IP: select the grade to match real service temperature, since each grade is rated for a defined ceiling up to 1200°C; abrasion resistance is rated medium to high, so exposed areas subject to mechanical damage may need additional protection; and while it mitigates CUI, correct surface preparation and full film continuity remain essential. Packaging format, shelf life and storage conditions are not published on the page; confirm these plus minimum order quantity and delivery schedule in the current TDS or with the sales team. Samples can be arranged so applicators can verify workability, adhesion and finish on representative pipe sections before committing to project volumes.
